Qualifying for Provincial Championships

• ​Provincial Championships 2024

The top 8 athletes in each division (having placed at a minimum of 1 tournament) will be invited to compete at the Saskatchewan Martial Arts Association Provincial Championship Competition.

Points are awarded for SMAA member athletes placing 1st through 4th in a Saskatchewan Martial Arts Sanctioned tournament during the ratings period from April 1 to March 31.

How do athletes earn points?

​Athletes belonging to current SMAA member clubs earn points for winning 1st through 4th place at SMAA sanctioned open tournaments.  After each tournament, the points are added to the Provincial Ratings.

​The following points are awarded for placing in SMAA sanctioned tournaments:
​1st Place - 51 points 
2nd Place - 25 points
​3rd Place - 10 points
​4th Place - 5 points
​Walk Over - 26 points 
​*Walkover is defined as the athlete winning the division due to lack of competitors and the inability or choice to not move into the upper division.*

We do our best to ensure rankings are entered correctly but there is the possibility of errors. If you have any concerns regarding your rankings, please have your Instructor use the below online form to send any questions, errors, or omissions.     Forms submitted by anyone other than an instructor will not be reviewed.
